Sago Agency

Sago is a student-run communications agency. They work with businesses with their communication efforts and provide a unique perspective. As an account manager, I communicated with higher management and my team on the best route to give Sago a foundation so that when new students enter the agency, there is a base upon which to grow. During my time, I had three major projects: creating brand guidelines, heading social media efforts, and developing a website. I am proud to say all three projects were accomplished within three months or a semester.

  • The scope of work was the first step of creating communication between my team, higher-up managers, and the owner of Sago; we decided a scope of work was best to quickly and efficiently plan out what we thought would be the best way to start the Sago brand, The result was three significant projects: brand guidelines, social media, and website development. This was then broken down into small attainable goals throughout the semester.

  • The brand guidelines were a collaboration between my team, the agency director, and the creative director. We first developed the logo as a base and had the whole agency's input. Once the logo was created, determining the mission and values was simple as we learned everyone's goals for Sago during the logo development. The brand turned out exactly how we worded it: modern, fresh, and engaging.

  • The Sago brand team chose three social media outlets for Sago to share with its online community: Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. We initially posted on Instagram, allowing the same post to be posted on our Facebook and LinkedIn pages. We added a sharing element of related news and articles in the industry on the Facebook and LinkedIn pages to give them more purpose and start conversations and a community within the outlets. The main post shared Sago's structure and mission, the employees, and the quotes we analyzed in the caption.

  • The website was a combination of everything we did so far. We expanded our mission and who Sago is on the homepage, then continued to set up an agency website's basics, including the about, clients, people, and contact pages. We set up a blog page for future employees of Sago to start as time restraints of a semester did not allow us to begin blogging. I recommended the blog page and other steps to grow and improve each project in an end-of-semester case study, which is below.
